Cerro Frías, a half day with a view of the lake
The Patagonia Dreams outing takes about four hours. The listing gives little detail, so the reviews fill in the shape of it: one rider describes a ride up a mountain overlooking Lago Argentino at sunset with dinner afterwards, another calls the horses gentle and the guides attentive and says you can go without any fears.
Two riders in early 2026 were less happy. One found the ride commercial, with the horses following each other in single file and nothing to steer, and advised looking for something more adventurous. Another felt a guide at the ranch was rude and impatient and drove the horses on with a whip. If you are an experienced rider, the first point matters; if animal welfare is a concern, the second is worth raising with the operator before you book.
Riding at Estancia Nibepo Aike
Estancia Nibepo Aike sells its own ranch day with a ride of about 45 minutes or about three hours, depending on the option you choose. It is a long day of seven hours or more, with lunch or dinner at the ranch and the drive of about 56 km along a gravel road. One guest from October 2025 did the optional three-hour ride and describes well-trained horses in excellent health; another enjoyed an hour-long ride and a large meal at the end.
Tangol also sells a Nibepo Aike day with a ride of about 45 minutes, led by a baqueano, but the booking cannot be refunded. Before you book a ride
- The listings set minimum ages: 6 for the Cerro Frías ride, 11 for riding with the estancia’s own booking and 10 for the Tangol ride. The Cerro Frías listing says its horses suit beginners and experienced riders. None of the three states a weight limit; ask the operator if that matters for your group.
- The Cerro Frías ride and the estancia’s own booking can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before the start; the Tangol booking cannot be refunded.
- The Cerro Frías ride and the estancia days are booked as separate tours, so you can combine a half-day ride with a glacier morning only if the times fit.
